Just a quick post to bring to people’s attention a charity even taking part at the end of the month. Battle for Sophia is a 48 hour sponsored Warhammer Fantasy Battle gaming being run by the Innsmouth Gaming Club with the aim to help fund a life changing operation and rehabilitation for Sophia Aitken, a 2 year old girl who has Spastic Diplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy.
There is an operation – Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) – that would reduce the pain in her legs, allow her to place her feet flat, and – with years of intensive physiotherapy – should mean she can walk independently. The operation will be carried out in America and the post op physio treatment will cost a massive £65,000. This is a very daunting amount to raise, but Sophia deserves this opportunity and we are determined to do all that we can to reach this target.
There has some been some build up on the Innsmouth blog and they will also be running coverage as the event takes place plus the event has some great sponsors who have also thrown in some raffle prizes to boot. So props to all who have donated prizes, it really shows that small businesses and podcasts in the wargaming business are class acts.
For more information on the event and if you wish to sponsor the guys, please go here and for more information on Sophia, she has her own website here. Please take the time to go and donate, even if it’s a little, in the end it all adds up to a lot!
